Potluck Jams
What is a POTLUCK Jam?
That Magic Moment...
Every Monday evening, in warm weather, along the Rondout Creek in Kingston on the Hudson, a magic moment takes place -- a small group of people emerge from their private worlds and converge on an unmarked spot along the old Delaware and Hudson Canal.
They are a mix of ages and different paths of life. Some greet old friends, some make new ones. The only thing they have in common is that most carry musical instruments for they have come to play music with other people. It's known as jamming, but this one is a quite different. And difference describes it best...
The Potluck Jam
It's like a potluck dinner, but instead of food to share with others, It's songs -- a new song to hear, to learn, and to play. Watch Diane Diachishin show how what starts as a solo grow into group harmony.
This is not an event like a festival or concert. There are no auditions. There is nothing to join -- just show up. In its own way it's organized, but just not an organization. Words can describe but not convey it. And that is the reason for this video website!
